Monday 7/2
Today,
we returned to classes after an interesting weekend exploring temples and
playing with monkeys. We began the day with a nutritious meal of rice and three
things. Immediately following we began teaching classes. We taught the
Pre-Cadets about the Declaration of Independence, the history behind the
revolutionary war, and the traditions of the American people today. Although
the Pre-Cadets were very attentive, it was difficult to get the point across.
The main points were understood, but the detail seemed to confuse them.
Overall,
it was a good chance to teach them about American history, but also learn about
their traditions and the holidays they celebrate. After completing the day’s
classes we went home to relax for a few hours. Krebs, Hall, and I left around
three to go and teach some Thai Pre-Cadets American cadences. Teaching them
about American marching and running was very interesting. The rest of the
American Cadets were out and about again interacting with the Thai Pre-Cadets
through sports and clubs. The night concluded around seven with a gaggle of
tired Americans.
